At Bloom Counseling + Wellness Studio, we’re excited to introduce our new Salt Room experience — a serene, spa-inspired sanctuary designed with you in mind. Halotherapy (dry salt therapy) offers a unique wellness-focused treatment beyond the traditional therapy session. As soon as you walk in, you’ll be greeted with soft lighting, gentle ambient sound, plush lounge chair and an ultra-fine layer of therapeutic salt particles suspended in the air — creating a safe, drug-free atmosphere for respiratory support, skin rejuvenation and stress relief.
What is Halotherapy?
Halotherapy (or salt therapy) is the practice of breathing in microscopically dispersed salt particles in a controlled “salt room” environment. These dry salt aerosols mimic the micro-climate of natural salt caves, where for centuries people reap the respiratory-and-skin benefits of salt-rich air. In our salt room, a specialized halogenerator breaks pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride into sub-micron particles that float throughout the air. As you relax in the tranquil space, these particles can be inhaled deeply into your lungs and brushed across your skin, supporting your body’s natural ability to thin mucus, calm inflammation, and promote a sense of wellness.
Why You’ll Love the Salt Room
- Private and peaceful experience: Unlike most salt rooms in Louisville, which are shared with multiple guests unless you reserve the entire space, our room at Bloom Counseling + Wellness Studio is designed for one or two people at a time. This allows for a quiet, personalized session where you can truly relax without distractions — whether you come alone for a restorative moment or bring a partner, friend, or family member.
- Support for respiratory wellness: Many clients find relief from seasonal allergies, sinus-pollution exposure, and everyday respiratory stress by spending time in salt-saturated air.
- Skin rejuvenation support: The dry salt environment may help calm skin inflammation, benefiting conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne.
- Stress reduction & relaxation: The calming ambiance and natural ionic environment create a restorative break — perfect for mothers, caregivers, and anyone balancing high-demand roles.
- Complement to your holistic care plan: Whether you’re attending a therapy session with us or simply seeking additional support in your wellness journey, the salt room integrates seamlessly into our client-focused model of care and connection.
How Often Should You Book a Session?
The ideal frequency for halotherapy depends on your goals. The key is to keep it consistent.
Here’s our suggestion to help guide you:
- For acute respiratory or skin support: We recommend beginning with 2–3 sessions per week for the first 3-5 weeks. This more intensive phase helps your system engage and respond.
- For general wellness and stress-relief: After the initial phase, a maintenance schedule of once per week works well to keep benefits alive and mind-body balance restored.
- For long-term upkeep: Many clients shift to bi-weekly or monthly sessions, customizing as life demands shift.
Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes, giving you ample time to inhale, relax, and let your body settle into a gentle, calm state of recovery.
Important Notes for Our Clients
As part of our membership model, the salt-room experience can be included in your tier, making this a seamless add-on to your therapy, messaging-between-sessions, and after-hours on-call support.
Halotherapy is complementary — it does not replace medical care. If you have significant respiratory or cardiovascular issues, open wounds, or are pregnant, please consult your physician first.
The salt room is designed to enhance your overall wellness — breathe deeply, bring a light sweater or socks for comfort, and allow yourself to unplug from the demands of the day
