Donna Huber is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in the mental health field for more than 20 years. She has worked in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings, social service agencies and at the University of Louisville Student Counseling Center, where she gained much experience with the college age population and the struggles they faced. She currently works with women struggling from depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, stress, grief and loss, and relationship difficulties.
For the past 8 years, she has been in private practice specializing in perinatal mood disorders (which includes pregnancy/postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, as well as mothers making the transition into motherhood). She works with women struggling with PTSD resulting from a traumatic childbirth as well as women who have experienced perinatal loss and/or finding out their child will be born with a disability.
Donna decided to specialize in perinatal mental health after struggling with postpartum depression herself. She is devoted to helping other mothers who may feel overwhelmed, depressed and anxious at a time when they feel they should be joyful and excited about their new baby.
Donna has a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville. She became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2001. She has specific training in treating perinatal mood disorders from Postpartum International and has served as a member of Postpartum Support Kentuckiana which provides support and assistance to postpartum women. She is also a member of National Association of Perinatal Social Workers.

Bonnie’s interest in lactation began as a student intern when she attended a breastfeeding class. After years of studying nutrition, she was intrigued by this first food (breast milk) and wondered why everyone wasn’t talking about it! Since then she has committed her career to families of childbearing years to promote, protect and support breastfeeding as normal infant feeding.
Bonnie has over 10 years of experience in nutrition, breastfeeding, and birth She is a Registered Dietitian (RD), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a trained birth doula through DONA. She was born and raised in Tennessee, was a long-time resident of Kentucky, lived out her dream in New York City with her husband and most recently lived and worked in Glacier National Park in Montana and traveled the U.S. on the ultimate road trip. Currently, she is proud to be back in the Commonwealth of Kentucky helping moms and babies in and around Louisville, Lexington and Southern Indiana. And most recently she has become a mother to Finley. He is her family’s greatest adventure!
Combining her work as a registered dietitian and lactation consultant, she is honored to provide nutrition and breastfeeding help for many families to support them in reaching their goals.
She offers lactation consultations both in-office or in the privacy of your own home. She also offers classes and workshops including:Prenatal Breastfeeding Classes, Weight Checks, Back to Work-Pump Class. Starting Solids Classes, Toddler Nutrition Classes and more.

Joanne Hellmann

Joanne Hellmann empowers individual and couples to overcome challenges to improve their relationships with themselves and others. She believes in the therapeutic process and feels it should be a safe space to foster personal and relational growth. She values the client-therapist relationship, understanding growth happens when client’s feel heard.
Joanne enjoys helping clients navigate through tough transitions. She understands the challenges of intimate relationships, pregnancy, postpartum, and raising young children, and she works with clients to set their own personal goals. Joanne uses both Gottman and emotionally focused techniques in her work with couples.
Joanne is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with specialized training in perinatal mood disorders. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of Kentucky. Joanne’s early experiences include clinic, community-based, and inpatient settings. During her course of training, she gained comfort with addressing various topics, including marriage, divorce, parenting, communication, anxiety, and depression.

Carol Ryan is a board certified holistic nurse specializing in creative wellness strategies to provide individualized integrative approaches in health. Her areas of expertise include stress management, relaxation techniques, pain management and health promotion.
Carol is certified to practice Integrative Imagery, Reiki, and Jin Shin Jyutsu. These integrative health techniques are safe and natural approaches to improve and restore balance to the clients she serves. She provides a unique partnership to help people reach optimal wellness and balance.
Carol is a graduate of the Beyond Ordinary Nursing program in Imagery. Using integrative imagery skills, she offers group and individual sessions to access inner resources for healing by using an interactive dialogue to explore thoughts, promote coping, and help clients reach individualized needs and promote healing. Carol uses mind-body techniques like Reiki, an ancient Japanese art, to promote healing through connecting with the body’s natural energies through her healing hands. She is also trained in the ancient art of Jin Shin Jyutsu to offer gentle touch to harmonize the life energy of the body through this relaxing practice to balance specific points to harmonize the flow to impact the body, mind and spirit. The art of this ancient healing therapy has been used for thousands of years to restore balance, to relieve stress, and to integrate into health practice for daily use and maintenance. Through these and other integrative approaches, Carol is able to help clients achieve optimal wellness and restoration to achieve goals. Carol offers a blend of many holistic modalities to manage stress, decrease pain, promote comfort, and restore balance for client’s optimal wellbeing and recovery.

Alisha Bowker

Alisha Bowker is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has practiced therapy for the past 10 years. She earned her Master’s degree at Columbia University in New York, and has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2015, holding her license in 3 states (NY, LA, KY) and also is a state approved supervisor in the state of KY. Alisha has a wealth of experience working with clients of all ages, and with a variety of needs. Her experience includes work in schools, outpatient clinics, inpatient psychiatric facilities and medical hospitals. Alisha is an expert in providing trauma-focused treatment and is currently getting certified in the treatment of perinatal mood disorders.
Alisha brings a holistic understanding and sensitivity to her work, integrating the symbiotic relationship between the mind and body and spirit. She uses tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client-Centered therapies to support her patients to feel at peace in their own bodies. She currently works with client’s struggling with new life transitions, infertility, grief and loss, depression, anxiety (including postpartum disorders), the challenges of pregnancy and new parenthood, PTSD, and other relationship conflicts.
Alisha is deeply committed to helping clients find the solutions that best meet their needs. Clients will come away from therapy with a set of skills that will allow them to navigate their pain and find meaning and purpose in their lives.

Heather Hudson is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who has worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, private practice and a residential facility serving our veterans. These opportunities allowed Heather to assist clients with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, parenting difficulties and self-esteem struggles.
Heather has earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. She has also obtained specific training in treating Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders. Additionally, Heather highly values continuous learning and constantly seeks to add to her knowledge base.
Combining her professional and personal experiences, Heather utilizes a strength-based approach individualized to each client. Her goal is to support and assist each person in identifying their strengths. These strengths can then be drawn upon as the client adjusts to the challenging life transition and addressing the current difficult situation. Heather also believes each person is an expert on themselves and that they are doing the best they can in the moment. Sometimes however, people can become stuck and need assistance in finding new perspectives or new skills. Using the strength-based individualized approach, Heather can assist others in finding those new perspectives and skills which will help the client reach the goals they’ve envisioned.

Bloom Counseling + Wellness Studio provides mental health and wellness services, with a specialty in preconception, pregnancy, postpartum and parenting support. Our services include counseling, parent coaching, lactation consultations, nutritional services, mom’s groups and workshops.
Bloom Counseling + Wellness Center is hiring for two positions on our team:
- A licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- A licensed Psychotherapist (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC)
This is an independent contractor position in a private practice setting. We are seeking candidates to provide in-person and virtual sessions. Our ideal candidates will be experienced counselors who have a passion for working with women and couples struggling with issues related to maternal mental health. Candidate must have availability to see clients a minimum of 12 sessions per week including 2 evenings and/or Saturday or Sunday hours.

Knowledge and/or experience with perinatal mood disorders and infertility is a plus! This is an independent contractor position.

Willing to complete Postpartum Support International training (or equivalent) upon hire
